Retirement Plan Consultant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Jersey.

📋 Description

• Act as a resource for plan sponsors and financial advisors regarding ERISA compliance, plan design, and governmental reporting.

• Serve as the primary contact for employers, financial professionals, and plan sponsors.

• Conduct client meetings both in-person and over the phone.

• Provide expertise in retirement plans, including testing, Form 5500, loans, and distributions.

• Support plan operations and document revisions.

• Deliver customer service, resolve problems, and address issues.

• Mentor Retirement Plan Coordinators.

• Assist clients with plan design, documentation requirements, and obligations set by the IRS and Department of Labor.

• Aid clients in meeting deadlines established by the IRS and Department of Labor.

• Process plan terminations, payroll, distributions, and loans as necessary.

• Stay updated on ERISA legislation and regulatory changes.

• Prepare or review valuation reports, participant statements, trust accounting, annual testing, and reporting.

• Review or conduct ADP/ACP, Top Heavy, 410(b), 415, 401(a)(4), deductibility, and 402(g) testing.

• Review or prepare Form 5500 and ensure timely filing.

• Assist with audits related to plans, the IRS, and the Department of Labor.

• Coordinate conversion processes for new clients with actuaries, financial advisors, attorneys, and other stakeholders.

• Oversee activities to guarantee the timely and accurate completion of the book of business.

• Safeguard confidential data belonging to Ascensus and clients.

⛳️ Requirements

• Preferred Bachelor's degree.

• 3–5 years or more of ERISA experience within the retirement industry.

• Required experience in analyzing financial data.

• Experience with Relius software is desirable but not mandatory.

• Proficient in Word, Excel, and Outlook.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Analytical mindset with effective problem-solving abilities.

• Detail-oriented with the capacity to prioritize and manage tasks efficiently.

• Ability to collaborate with business operations on ERISA compliance issues.

• Capability to plan, assign, and supervise the work of qualified plan associates.
