Research Staff – Applied Voice AI

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Identify the limitations of Deepgram's models and establish improvement targets.

• Create evaluations that demonstrate model enhancements and the rationale behind them.

• Curate, generate data, and fine-tune models effectively.

• Develop functional systems promptly and deploy them into production.

• Translate ambiguous customer challenges into precise metrics.

• Utilize fine-tuning, new data, and external models to address customer issues.

• Take ownership of customer challenges until they show measurable improvements in production.

• Discover the quickest route to solutions, including experimenting with untested methods.

• Assess when results are ready to be presented to customers.

• Expand models to encompass new languages and regions.

• Enhance text-to-speech pronunciation for names, terms, and numbers.

• Separate speakers' voices from background noise and crosstalk.

• Provide customers with early access to new voice features and incorporate their feedback into research methodologies.

• Publish new benchmarks for Voice AI applications.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in training, fine-tuning, and evaluating deep learning models.

• Proficient in Python and PyTorch.

• Proven history of deploying machine learning solutions to production.

• Experience in managing problems from start to finish with a willingness to learn as necessary.

• Sound judgment regarding which issues are significant and when a result is ready for deployment.

• Familiarity with speech-to-text, text-to-speech, or voice agents is advantageous.

• Experience with distributed training may be a plus.

• Publications, open-source contributions, or public benchmarks could be beneficial.

• Must have legal authorization to work in the country where the position is based.

• Must not require visa sponsorship to work in the country where the position is based.
