This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +1 more country.
• Engage in innovative research focused on Protocol Learning.
• Publish findings in top-tier machine learning conferences such as NeurIPS, ICML, and ICLR.
• Identify and tackle challenges that hinder the scalability of Protocol Learning.
• Address unresolved issues related to scaling from the 8B run to frontier-scale implementations.
• Participate in a 6-month research internship while pursuing a PhD.
• Collaborate with teams in Australia and North America while working remotely across various time zones.
• Utilize substantial computational resources and receive dedicated mentorship from experienced scientists.
• Currently enrolled as a PhD candidate.
• A minimum of one publication in leading machine learning venues (NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR).
• Experience conducting research in a critical technical area related to frontier models.
• A solid theoretical foundation in deep learning and distributed systems principles.
• Proficient in PyTorch.
• Familiarity with large-scale training infrastructures.
• A strong belief that Protocol Learning represents a viable third path for collective, trustless, and sovereign AI.
• Professional proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
• Ability to work remotely across different time zones.
• Hiring is restricted to candidates in Australia and the US; visa sponsorship is limited to these regions.
