Research and Innovation Scientist II

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Assist in developing new products for PetLabCo.’s product lineup in collaboration with the R&D and NPD teams.

• Analyze and enhance existing products, including evaluating ingredient scientific data for both new and current formulations.

• Facilitate partnerships with suppliers and co-manufacturers.

• Design, coordinate, and conduct studies with appropriate partner organizations to gather efficacy data.

• Stay informed about new ingredients and innovations relevant to the industry.

• Collaborate with the compliance team to ensure that ingredients, labels, and marketing claims align with changing regulatory standards.

• Work with the broader cross-functional team to ensure successful product launches.

• Report directly to the VP of Research and Development.

• Oversee the development of new products from initial innovation through to formulation, substantiation, testing, and launch.

• Maintain a portfolio of products while researching relevant ingredients, formats, markets, and category trends.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a scientific discipline, such as animal science or nutrition.

• At least 3 years of relevant industry experience in product formulation, R&D, or a related scientific field.

• Proficiency in product formulation and/or new product development.

• Familiarity with ingredients, their modes of action, and variations in quality.

• Experience with R&D related to early-stage, unproven ingredients.

• Ability to clearly articulate and justify formulations and product formats.

• Strong project management skills, along with practical experience in developing and launching new products, packages, and processes as a technical member of a cross-functional team.

• Exceptional oral and written communication skills along with a strong capacity for learning.

• Experience working with external partners to meet project requirements.
