Reporter – Temp Full-time

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Generate a minimum of 5–7 articles each week for muskokaregion.com

• Ensure stories are prepared for upload to other media outlets and Metroland publication websites

• Emphasize civic journalism within the Huntsville and Lake of Bays regions

• Report on municipal councils, school boards, law enforcement, courts, fire departments, Crown corporations, government agencies, Parliament, and provincial legislatures

• Conduct interviews and capture photographs in the Huntsville area while working remotely

• Operate within a virtual newsroom

⛳️ Requirements

• A degree or diploma in journalism, or equivalent experience is preferred

• Capability to work autonomously in a virtual newsroom setting

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented, and challenging environment

• Skill in establishing professional relationships with team members and sources

• Proficient interviewing, social media, AI, and online journalism abilities

• Exceptional writing and communication skills

• Demonstrated news judgment and a strong work ethic

• Effective organizational capabilities with the ability to manage time and prioritize tasks

• Skills in photography and video

• Access to a vehicle

• Valid driver’s license

• Must reside in the Huntsville area
