This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +15 more states.
• Oversee and promptly address incoming inquiries from journalists through SciLine’s expert matching service.
• Adhere to the service’s guidelines, policies, and procedures.
• Collaborate with team members who assist scientists to follow up on and resolve inquiries.
• Input journalist inquiry information into SciLine’s Salesforce database.
• Communicate and coordinate with the SciLine inbox team across various shifts.
• Monitor and escalate any unusual or complex journalist communications to the expert matching team.
• Report directly to SciLine’s senior scientific outreach manager.
• Some background in journalism or media relations, or a demonstrated understanding of the terminology and professional standards within the journalism field.
• Capability to communicate swiftly, concisely, and effectively.
• Strong decision-making abilities, particularly under tight deadlines.
• Keen attention to detail.
• Experience with, interest in, or passion for science is a significant advantage.
• Must reside in or be willing to relocate to an approved state where AAAS operates.
• Visa sponsorship is not available.
• Employment eligibility will be verified through E-Verify for newly hired employees.

• Flexible part-time on-call schedule with negotiable hours/shifts.
• Up to 17 hours of work per week.
