Release Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of and oversee the release calendar for the engagement.

• Coordinate dependencies, freeze periods, environments, and concurrent workstreams.

• Define release entry and exit criteria and facilitate discussions on go/no-go decisions.

• Ensure that all necessary engineering, QA, security, and client approvals are obtained.

• Develop comprehensive cutover plans that include owners, timing, dependencies, and checkpoints.

• Organize dry runs and rehearsals for high-stakes releases.

• Ensure that rollback plans are documented and tested, with clear triggers and decision-making ownership.

• Manage communication related to releases before, during, and after deployment.

• Identify and address blockers and risks associated with testing, environments, dependencies, or timing.

• Monitor release performance and trends, lead retrospectives, and enhance release processes.

• Collaborate with DevOps on deployment automation, environment management, branching, and versioning.

• Clarify release scope, timing, ownership, risks, and contingency plans.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 4 years of experience in release management, delivery management, technical program management, or a related role in software delivery.

• Proven hands-on experience managing production releases from start to finish, including planning, readiness, go/no-go, cutover, and rollback.

• Strong comprehension of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) concepts, deployment environments, and branching/versioning strategies.

• Experience in coordinating efforts among engineering, QA, DevOps, project teams, and external or client stakeholders.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the capability to create clear runbooks, release updates, and executive summaries.

• A methodical and composed approach to decision-making, especially during high-pressure releases or production challenges.

• Familiarity with tools such as Jira, Confluence, release workflows, and delivery dashboards.

• Active engagement with AI tools like ChatGPT, Claude, or Copilot, demonstrating sound judgment in validating AI-generated outputs.

• Preferred: Experience in eCommerce settings.

• Preferred: Exposure to Configure, Price, Quote (CPQ) solutions.

• Preferred: Experience with Salesforce.

• Preferred: Experience with ServiceNow.

• Preferred: Background in consulting, professional services, or other client-facing delivery environments.

• Preferred: ITIL, SAFe Release Train Engineer, PMP, or similar certifications.
