This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Create evaluation tasks for AI systems functioning within regulatory compliance and government affairs environments.
• Develop scenarios that encompass regulatory compliance program design, agency investigations and enforcement actions, as well as rulemaking or comment processes.
• Design tasks related to financial services, healthcare and FDA regulations, antitrust and competition, data privacy and cybersecurity, as well as environmental and energy regulation.
• Formulate scenarios that involve regulatory tracking platforms, compliance management systems, and agency filing systems.
• Utilize methodologies for regulatory interpretation, compliance risk assessment, and enforcement response strategies.
• Generate reference compliance memoranda, regulatory filings, and enforcement response documentation.
• Create rubrics that differentiate genuine regulatory judgment from standard law school or bar exam-level recall.
• Partner with top researchers on initiatives aimed at training and refining AI systems.
• Over 5 years of experience as a regulatory attorney or compliance counsel at a prominent law firm, regulated entity, or government agency.
• Direct responsibility for regulatory compliance programs, agency interactions, or enforcement issues.
• Proficiency in regulatory tools.
• Knowledge of administrative processes and agency rulemaking.
• Capability to navigate US regulatory frameworks, including the Administrative Procedure Act and agency-specific SEC, FDA, and FTC statutes and regulations, as well as international EU and UK regulatory frameworks.
• Possession of a recognized professional credential is strongly preferred, such as a JD with bar admission or an international equivalent.
• Prior experience in authoring rubrics, training materials, or compliance documentation is advantageous.
• Not eligible as an H-1B or STEM OPT candidate, as Mercor cannot accommodate those applicants.
• Must be able to operate as an independent contractor.
