
Regional Sales Manager – Municipal Wastewater

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +4 more states.
• Expand Vogelsang’s municipal market footprint in the Western Territory.
• Formulate and implement a strategic sales plan to meet bookings, revenue, and gross-margin targets.
• Seek out new business opportunities with wastewater treatment plants, utilities, contractors, public works departments, and municipal facilities.
• Conduct face-to-face meetings with municipal decision-makers.
• Cultivate relationships with consulting engineering firms to secure product specifications.
• Oversee, develop, recruit, and ensure accountability of channel partners.
• Participate in joint sales calls and determine follow-up actions.
• Maintain engagement with municipal end users and engineering firms throughout the sales cycle.
• Identify applications for pumps, grinders, macerators, and both process and solids-handling equipment.
• Manage projects from planning and specification stages through to quotation, bidding, negotiation, procurement, and order closure.
• Provide technical consultations, conduct plant visits, give presentations, and host demonstrations and lunch-and-learn sessions.
• Create opportunities for replacement equipment, repairs, service, and spare parts within the installed base.
• Collaborate with engineering, applications, customer service, and product management teams.
• Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly plans for territory development and travel.
• Keep records of accounts, opportunities, forecasts, order dates, follow-ups, and activities in the CRM.
• Organize business travel and activities using Microsoft Outlook Calendar.
• Attend relevant water and wastewater trade shows, conferences, and industry meetings.
• Complete first-year training on products, applications, competition, and sales processes.
• Build a qualified sales pipeline and generate trials, demonstrations, specifications, and competitive conversions.
• Residence in California is preferred, or in Denver, Phoenix, Portland, or Seattle, with easy access to a major airport.
• Approximately two weeks of travel outside the home area, followed by one week working from the home office with local visits; schedule may vary.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Environmental, Civil, Process, Water Resources, or a related engineering field.
• At least five years of relevant experience in technical sales, business development, applications engineering, or technical sales support related to municipal wastewater process equipment or similar technologies.
• Proven ability to build customer relationships, seek new business, secure meetings, create opportunities, or contribute to territory/account expansion.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and a solid understanding of pumping systems, fluid dynamics, municipal wastewater processes, and equipment troubleshooting.
• Exceptional communication, presentation, relationship-building, and negotiation skills.
• Capability to work independently from a home office while meeting activity and performance expectations.
• Valid driver’s license with the ability to travel by car and commercial airline.
• Proficiency in operating a company vehicle while towing a demonstration trailer, subject to applicable licensing, training, and safety requirements.
• Willingness to access municipal wastewater facilities and adhere to safety protocols.
• Mandatory proficient and disciplined use of Microsoft Outlook Calendar.
• Consistent use of the company CRM, preferably Salesforce, is required.
• Experience with municipal equipment, pumps, rotating equipment, controls, SCADA, solids handling, dewatering, infrastructure, environmental services, applications engineering, or related areas is preferred but not required.
• Direct mentoring from experienced municipal sales leaders.

• Formal training on products, applications, markets, and competition.
