Quantum Computing, Cryptography Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Oversee evaluations of organizational cryptographic systems and identify risks associated with quantum computing.

• Formulate quantum-resilient security strategies and migration plans that comply with federal cybersecurity standards.

• Investigate, assess, and implement solutions for post-quantum cryptography and quantum-resistant algorithms.

• Provide guidance to stakeholders on the implications of quantum computing for enterprise security frameworks.

• Perform assessments of cryptographic inventories and prioritize modernization and migration efforts.

• Analyze new cryptographic standards and frameworks, including NIST's post-quantum cryptography guidelines.

• Design and evaluate cryptographic solutions using classical and quantum simulation methodologies.

• Offer technical expertise in quantum-safe encryption, key management, and PKI solutions.

• Collaborate with teams in cybersecurity, software engineering, data science, and infrastructure.

• Assist in policy development, governance tasks, and strategic planning for cryptographic upgrades.

• Create technical documentation, executive presentations, and risk assessments for government stakeholders and leadership.

• Engage in technical working groups, architecture reviews, and program management functions.

• Support program-related meetings, workshops, and stakeholder interactions as necessary.


⛳️ Requirements

• At least 10 years of experience in Information Technology.

• Minimum of 5 years in Quantum Computing and Cryptography, supporting large corporations or Federal Government agencies comparable in scale and complexity to GSA, IRS, DoD, or VA.

• Experience in supporting cryptographic modernization and enterprise security initiatives.

• Background in assessing emerging quantum technologies and devising implementation strategies.

• Proven experience in project-based settings that support large-scale technology initiatives.

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Assurance, Information Security, Information Resource Management, or a related field.

• Must hold one or more of the following certifications: IAT Level III, IAM Level III, or IASAE Level III.

• Strong knowledge of quantum mechanics, quantum information theory, and principles of quantum computing.

• Proficient in Shor's Algorithm, Grover's Algorithm, and related quantum computational models.

• Practical experience with IBM Qiskit, Google Cirq, Quipper, or Microsoft Quantum Development Kit.

• Comprehensive understanding of RSA, AES, and PKI.

• Specialized knowledge in post-quantum cryptography, quantum-resistant algorithms, and cryptographic modernization projects.

• Familiarity with NIST and ISO/IEC 19790 standards and compliance frameworks.

• Skilled in Python, C++, Java, or related programming languages.

• Experience working with classical and quantum simulation environments.

• Capability to develop cryptographic migration strategies in alignment with post-quantum security requirements.

• Experience in evaluating enterprise cryptographic inventories and prioritizing modernization efforts.

• Ability to articulate complex technical concepts and quantum-related risks to executive leadership and non-technical stakeholders.

• Experience in crafting policy recommendations and technical guidance in accordance with NIST PQC standards, including FIPS 203, FIPS 204, and FIPS 205.

• Strong project management and organizational capabilities within structured program environments.

• Must successfully complete and maintain a Tier 4 / High Risk Background Investigation.

• Available during standard Federal Government workdays and responsive during core business hours from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Eastern Time.
