Quantity Surveyor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Ensure the successful financial execution and completion of projects while safeguarding the company against financial risks.

• Oversee the commercial elements of projects valued between £100k and £4m.

• Negotiate interim payment amounts with clients and keep track of payment notices.

• Facilitate negotiations for final accounts.

• Collaborate with the Sales team and/or Project Manager to prepare project budgets.

• Conduct monthly budget monitoring against costs and projections, reporting findings to management.

• Assist in final accounts for subcontractors.

• Ensure all contractual obligations are met.

• Work alongside project teams and Directors to address variations, delays, and other commercial issues.

• Aid in the preparation of contractual notices.

• Participate in site visits to assess variations and quality issues when necessary.

• Keep precise site records.

• Attend client meetings as required.

• Review and provide feedback on terms and conditions during the tender stage.

• Foster relationships with clients, consultants, and colleagues.

• Mentor junior team members when needed.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in a similar commercial role within the fire protection sector or building services industry (essential).

• Solid foundational knowledge of standard forms of contract (essential).

• In-depth understanding of construction methods, materials, and regulations pertinent to the Fire Engineering industry (essential).

• Proficiency in cost control techniques and relevant software applications (essential).

• Awareness of dispute resolution procedures with hands-on experience in managing disputes (essential).

• Capability to generate accurate monthly cost and value reports (essential).

• Competence in negotiating with clients and subcontractors (essential).

• Experience handling final accounts (essential).

• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities (essential).

• Keen attention to detail and accuracy (essential).

• Strong communication and negotiation skills (essential).

• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team (essential).

• IT/software proficiency, including MS Project, Excel, Word, and Outlook (essential).

• Degree in Quantity Surveying or currently pursuing a degree (desirable but not essential).

• Knowledge of fire industry standards (desirable but not essential).

• May be required to undergo a DBS check.
