
QME Deposition Clerk β Worker's Compensation

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
β’ Review case files assigned to you prior to scheduled QME depositions to evaluate case status, medical-legal concerns, and litigation stance.
β’ Assess the possibility of achieving settlement, stipulation, or cancellation of the deposition ahead of the scheduled date.
β’ Engage with attorneys, adjusters, and opposing counsel to discuss options for early resolution and the status of depositions.
β’ Record findings from case reviews and recommendations for resolution in the case management system.
β’ Compile deposition packets that include medical-legal reports, previous records, exhibits, and any relevant outstanding discovery.
β’ Manage scheduling logistics with court reporters, interpreters, QME offices, and opposing counsel.
β’ Ensure that deposition notices, subpoenas, and associated service requirements are complete and delivered on time.
β’ Create and circulate deposition summaries, outlines, or question lists as instructed by the attorney.
β’ Monitor upcoming deposition deadlines and keep an accurate deposition calendar.
β’ Attend QME depositions set by applicants and defense, either in person or remotely.
β’ Take comprehensive notes, track significant testimony and marked exhibits, and assist with real-time document retrieval.
β’ Oversee post-deposition responsibilities, including ordering transcripts and distributing summaries to the case team.
β’ Keep accurate case files, deposition logs, and status reports.
β’ Proactively communicate with internal team members about case status, opportunities for resolution, and outcomes of depositions.
β’ Perform additional litigation support tasks as assigned.
β’ A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
β’ An associate's or bachelor's degree is preferred.
β’ A minimum of 1 year of experience in workers' compensation litigation, QME/AME processes, or civil litigation support is strongly preferred.
β’ Familiarity with California workers' compensation procedures, QME processes, and deposition practices, or a willingness to learn quickly is essential.
β’ Previous experience as a litigation clerk, legal assistant, or paralegal in a law firm or claims setting is advantageous.
β’ Strong analytical abilities to review case files and pinpoint resolution opportunities.
β’ Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are necessary.
β’ Highly organized with a keen attention to detail and the capacity to manage multiple deposition schedules concurrently.
β’ Ability to work autonomously, prioritize tasks efficiently, and meet strict deadlines.
β’ Proficiency in case management software, Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel), and e-filing/e-service systems is required.
β’ A professional demeanor is essential for attending depositions alongside attorneys, medical evaluators, and opposing counsel.
