QA Engineer – Mobile

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants anywhere in the world.

📋 Description

• Oversee comprehensive quality assurance, test automation, and release stability for the ScholarshipOwl Flutter mobile application and its GraphQL API integration.

• Develop, maintain, and execute parallelized end-to-end smoke and regression test pipelines utilizing Patrol within Codemagic and GitLab CI.

• Implement automated contract and API integration testing for updates to the GraphQL schema and mobile query requirements.

• Incorporate tools such as Cursor, Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini into QA workflows for generating Patrol scripts, mock payloads, and logging triage.

• Analyze Figma feature specifications and GraphQL schemas prior to sprint commitments to uncover edge cases, logical inconsistencies, and design issues.

• Engage in pull request reviews.

• Monitor build health, Firebase Remote Config and Analytics, Sentry logs, and GCP Cloud Run logs.

• Address issues across Flutter BLoC/UI state, GraphQL resolvers, and backend services.

• Document detailed GitLab issues with context suitable for developers.

• Perform exploratory and release testing on iOS Simulators, Android Emulators, physical devices, TestFlight, Google Play Console internal tracks, and Shorebird OTA hot-patches.

• Utilize Flutter Storybook for visual regression and component-level testing.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in Mobile QA Engineering or Test Automation.

• At least 1 year of active experience integrating AI coding tools into daily workflows.

• Practical experience with Flutter automation frameworks such as Patrol or Flutter Integration Test, or strong skills in Appium/XCUITest/Espresso with a willingness to learn Patrol.

• Proficient in testing GraphQL APIs using tools like Bruno, Postman, Playwright, or HTTP clients.

• Experience with GraphQL schema validation, headers, and JWT authentication processes.

• Comfortable inspecting Figma files for UI specifications and design tokens.

• Familiarity with Xcode and Android Studio tools.

• Experience managing Firebase Remote Config and feature flags.

• Knowledge of Apple App Store/TestFlight and Google Play Console internal testing processes.

• Experience with mobile CI/CD tools such as Codemagic and GitLab CI.

• Proficient in Git and GitLab workflows.

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience in software development/test automation.

• Clear and concise written and spoken English communication skills.

• Advanced skills in AI-assisted test generation and mock-payload creation are preferred.

• Coding ability in Dart/Flutter and experience with Flutter Storybook are advantageous.

• Familiarity with Shorebird, TypeScript/Bun, GCP, Cloud Run, Cloud Logging, Unleash, and relevant certifications is beneficial.

• Previous experience testing cross-platform Flutter applications with GraphQL backends is a plus.

• Experience with consumer mobile applications, EdTech platforms, subscription/billing systems, or onboarding funnels is a bonus.
