QA Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Strategize and implement exploratory, functional, regression, API, and mobile testing.

• Conduct tests across various devices, operating systems, browsers, and network conditions.

• Identify areas with high risk and prioritize testing based on user and business impact.

• Validate essential user journeys and confirm fixes before product releases.

• Create and sustain automated tests for mobile applications, APIs, and platform services.

• Incorporate automated tests into CI/CD workflows.

• Investigate unstable tests and maintain reusable test data and testing infrastructure.

• Detect, document, communicate, and verify defects along with reproduction steps and evidence.

• Collaborate with engineers to troubleshoot issues, identify root causes, and prevent recurring defects.

• Engage in release planning and readiness reviews.

• Define and communicate release risks, outstanding defects, testing gaps, and release criteria.

• Work with Product and Engineering to establish acceptance criteria and enhance testability.

• Team up with Support and Trust & Safety on customer-reported issue patterns.

• Contribute to testing for accessibility, performance, security, and reliability.

• Set up QA processes and best practices as the engineering organization expands.

• Report directly to the Head of Engineering as an individual contributor.

• Collaborate closely with Mobile, Web, Backend, Product, Support, and Trust & Safety teams.

• Establish regression coverage, integrate stable automated checks into development and release processes, and assess quality improvements.

• Familiarize yourself with the product, architecture, release process, and critical user journeys during the initial 90 days.

• Automate key regression scenarios, enhance test reliability, and establish defect reporting practices.

• Integrate release-quality checks into CI/CD and propose future QA automation and process enhancements.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in Quality Assurance, Quality Engineering, or Software Testing.

• Extensive experience in both exploratory testing and automated testing.

• Proficient in testing mobile applications and APIs.

• Programming experience adequate to design, write, debug, and maintain automated tests.

• Solid understanding of Git, code review, and CI/CD workflows.

• Experience in developing software and automated tests with and without AI-assisted coding tools.

• Ability to effectively utilize generative AI and coding assistants while maintaining ownership of the generated code.

• Strong understanding of how to review, test, debug, and validate AI-generated code.

• Capacity to identify potential security, reliability, and maintainability issues in AI-assisted development.

• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to work autonomously while effectively collaborating with cross-functional teams.

• Safeguard proprietary code, credentials, customer information, and other sensitive data when utilizing AI tools.

• Experience testing social, creator, media, or consumer applications (preferred).

• Familiarity with real-time features such as messaging, notifications, feeds, or live interactions (preferred).

• Experience testing monetization, subscriptions, payments, or creator payouts (preferred).

• Experience with mobile automation frameworks (preferred).

• Experience with API testing and service-level automation (preferred).

• Background in working with cloud-based applications and distributed systems (preferred).

• Familiarity with accessibility and performance testing (preferred).

• Experience establishing QA processes within a growing engineering organization (preferred).
