QA Automation Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Design, enhance, and maintain robust automated testing solutions and frameworks.

• Conduct thorough test analysis and design for complex, highly integrated systems.

• Develop and execute automated tests across various application levels.

• Utilize TDD, BDD, and risk-based testing methodologies.

• Integrate automated testing within CI/CD pipelines.

• Advocate for shift-left testing and best practices in quality engineering throughout the development lifecycle.

• Execute Unit, Component, Integration, System, and End-to-End testing.

• Assist with both functional and non-functional testing activities.

• Support User Acceptance Testing and Business Acceptance Testing as needed.

• Oversee test data, testing documentation, and associated QA artifacts.

• Collaborate closely with developers, including engaging in pair programming when appropriate.

• Identify, investigate, and assist with defect resolution.

• Contribute to the continuous improvement of testing processes and automation practices.

• Mentor and support less experienced testing colleagues.

• Participate as a member of an agile engineering team delivering high-quality, mission-critical digital solutions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong commercial experience in QA/Test Automation.

• Practical experience in designing, developing, and maintaining automated test suites.

• Comprehensive understanding of both functional and non-functional software testing.

• In-depth knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and Continuous Integration practices.

• Experience working in Agile/iterative software development environments.

• Proven experience in testing complex and integrated enterprise applications.

• Solid understanding of test design, test analysis, and risk-based testing.

• Familiarity with Git and GitLab.

• Ability to collaborate closely with developers and other engineering disciplines.

• Strong attention to detail along with a quality-first mindset.

• Capacity to manage priorities and work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

• Familiarity or experience with Playwright, Selenium, Cucumber, Postman, JUnit, Gatling, OWASP ZAP, Git/GitLab, Docker/Kubernetes, Azure, and/or AWS.

• Experience with API testing, performance testing, and accessibility testing, including WCAG, WAVE, or Axe.

• Formal education in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is a plus; equivalent professional experience is valued equally.

• Experience in complex, enterprise-scale, or regulated environments is a plus.

• Exposure to performance and security/penetration testing is a plus.

• Experience in implementing or enhancing automation frameworks is a plus.

• Knowledge of accessibility testing standards is a plus.

• Experience coaching or mentoring other QA/Test Engineers is a plus.
