Purview & Security Architect – Contract

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Facilitate discovery sessions, stakeholder interviews, assessments, design workshops, whiteboarding, and implementation workstreams.

• Collaborate with executive-level personnel, security, compliance, data governance, IT, and business teams.

• Design, configure, test, and enhance Microsoft Purview across Microsoft 365, endpoints, cloud environments, and structured data.

• Create strategies for classification, labeling, retention, protection, and governance.

• Establish protocols for testing, investigations, audit evidence, incident workflows, documentation, and ongoing refinement.

• Evaluate Microsoft 365 Copilot, Copilot Studio, Microsoft Foundry, enterprise AI applications, and custom or third-party agents.

• Define governance for AI prompts, outputs, grounding data, access, retention, monitoring, auditability, approvals, exceptions, escalation, change control, incident response, and retirement.

• Develop enterprise data-governance operating models, encompassing policies, standards, decision rights, roadmaps, stewardship, councils, glossaries, data domains, metadata, lineage, quality, procedures, training, and knowledge transfer.

• Design recommendations for Zero Trust and access governance utilizing Entra ID and associated identity controls.

• Align identity, device, application, endpoint, network, and data controls effectively.

• Integrate Purview with Defender, Sentinel, and Intune as applicable.

• Produce customer-ready architectures, findings, roadmaps, configuration guides, governance models, runbooks, test plans, training materials, and executive presentations.

• Oversee pilots, MVPs, production deployments, validation, tuning, handoffs, status reporting, risk management, and escalation processes.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in Microsoft security, compliance, identity, or data governance.

• Significant experience in customer-facing consulting and independent professional services delivery.

• Proficient hands-on expertise in Microsoft Purview across structured data, Information Protection, DLP, Records Management, Insider Risk, eDiscovery, Retention, and DSPM.

• Familiarity with data governance operating models.

• Experience with Entra ID, Conditional Access, MFA, Identity Governance, Access Reviews, PIM, external identities, service principals, and managed identities.

• Knowledge governing Microsoft 365 Copilot, Copilot Studio agents, enterprise AI, or custom AI solutions.

• Proven ability to manage three or more concurrent client projects.

• Capacity to balance competing priorities and deadlines while communicating risks proactively.

• Ability to lead both executive and technical workshops.

• Competence in configuring and troubleshooting solutions.

• Skill in delivering clear customer documentation in a remote, project-based setting.

• Preferred certifications include SC-401, SC-300, SC-200, SC-100, and/or MS-102.

• Additional skills of value include knowledge of Defender XDR, Defender for Cloud Apps or Endpoint, Sentinel, Intune, Microsoft Graph, PowerShell, KQL, governance Centers of Excellence, Responsible AI, secure development lifecycle and CI/CD governance, agent identities, MCP servers, APIs, models, tools, and AI supply-chain controls.
