This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Serve as a Practitioner and Consultant in Psychiatry via virtual platforms for patients with low and moderate acuity.
• Deliver routine outpatient care and ongoing follow-up for chronic patients experiencing acute disorders and complications.
• Provide psychiatric assessments for triage patients presenting with urgent medical issues.
• Develop evaluation methods, create treatment and rehabilitation plans, and deliver therapeutic treatment services.
• Conduct patient examinations, assess laboratory and clinical results, prescribe treatments, or refer patients to specialty clinics as needed.
• Collaborate with physicians from various specialties, offering consultation or medical support to psychologists, nurses, social workers, military liaisons, and commanders.
• Lead quality assurance initiatives within the designated area of responsibility.
• Advise on hospitalization needs, assess fitness for duty, and complete MEB, TDRL, psychological autopsy, sanity board, command consultation, and other administrative evaluations.
• Determine treatment requirements and facilitate safe therapeutic outcomes.
• Clarify TRICARE requirements and benefits to TRICARE/DoD beneficiaries.
• Organize and maintain convenience files, as well as outpatient and inpatient medical records.
• Draft case summaries and correspondence as necessary.
• Participate in staff meetings for case discussions, continuing education, quality enhancement, and safety protocols.
• Update patient records within 72 business hours following appointments and ensure high-visibility or higher-acuity patient documentation is completed by the end of the business day.
• Adhere to SOPs, duty limitations, weapons access assessments, government and professional clinical standards, and accepted clinical practices.
• Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree is required.
• Completed an internship and residency in Psychiatry, or a Psychiatry Fellowship from an accredited U.S. Psychiatry Training program recognized by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education.
• Minimum of two years of experience in providing Psychiatry services via virtual platforms; candidates with less than two years may be considered.
• Preferred experience providing Psychiatry services within the Military Health System; virtual health experience outside the MHS is also acceptable.
• Current board certification from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology or the American Osteopathic Board of Psychiatry and Neurology is essential.
• Must have a current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Psychiatrist.
• Fulfillment of credentialing requirements and maintenance of relevant clinical privileges is mandatory.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross must be obtained and maintained.
• Advanced certifications such as ALS do not replace the need for BLS.
