This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Fulfill the role of Practitioner and Consultant in Psychiatry for the Defense Health Agency Enterprise Tele-Behavioral Health Clinical Services contract.
• Deliver routine outpatient care through virtual platforms to patients with low- and moderate-acuity conditions.
• Provide insights on significant diagnostic and treatment strategies.
• Offer ongoing follow-up care for chronic patients experiencing acute disorders and complications.
• Administer psychiatric care for triage patients facing acute illnesses.
• Develop evaluation techniques and create treatment and rehabilitation plans.
• Assess patients, analyze laboratory and clinical results, prescribe treatments, or refer patients to specialized clinics.
• Work collaboratively with physicians, psychologists, advanced practice nurses, social workers, military liaisons, and commanders.
• Oversee quality assurance initiatives within the designated area of responsibility.
• Recommend hospitalization, assess service-member fitness for duty, and complete MEB, TDRL, psychological autopsy, sanity board, command consultation, and various administrative evaluations.
• Identify treatment needs and ensure safe therapeutic outcomes.
• Clarify TRICARE requirements and benefits to TRICARE/DoD beneficiaries.
• Prepare and maintain convenience files along with outpatient and inpatient medical records.
• Draft case summaries and correspondence.
• Participate in mandatory staff meetings for case discussions, ongoing education, quality improvement, and safety protocols.
• Update patient charts within 72 business hours post-appointments; ensure high-visibility or higher-acuity patient documentation is updated by the end of the business day.
• Adhere to SOP duty limitations and weapons access assessments.
• Comply with DHA provider scheduling requirements according to skill type.
• Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree.
• Successfully completed an internship and residency in Psychiatry, and/or a Psychiatry Fellowship in an accredited Psychiatry Training program in the United States approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education.
• A minimum of two years of experience in providing Psychiatry and evidence-based treatments via virtual platforms; candidates with less than two years of experience will be considered.
• Current board certification from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology or the American Osteopathic Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
• A current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Psychiatrist.
• Must meet credentialing requirements and maintain appropriate and relevant clinical privileges.
• Obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross.
• Knowledge and experience treating patients via virtual platforms, preferably with the military population.
• Familiarity with TRICARE requirements and benefits.
