Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, PMHNP

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Deliver care to both adolescent and adult patients, or throughout various age groups, as assigned.

• Evaluate patients’ mental and physical health based on their presenting symptoms and complaints.

• Diagnose psychiatric disorders and mental health conditions accurately.

• Differentiate between physiologically-based and psychologically-based disorders and provide appropriate diagnoses.

• Conduct individual psychotherapy for patients dealing with chronic or acute mental disorders.

• Order necessary diagnostic tests, including EKGs and laboratory work.

• Prescribe psychotropic medications, including controlled substances, and inform patients about their risks, benefits, and side effects.

• Monitor the use of medications, their side effects, and treatment outcomes.

• Assess patient behavior and responses to treatment.

• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to create, implement, and evaluate treatment plans.

• Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment strategies, and medications.

• Document medical and psychological histories, assessments, diagnoses, treatment plans, prescriptions, and outcomes thoroughly.

• Complete necessary administrative documentation, including FMLA and other Brave-approved forms.

• Schedule and manage follow-up appointments and ongoing treatment requirements.

• Ensure accurate documentation of patient visits in the EHR.

• Adhere to HIPAA regulations, 42 CFR Part 2, national care standards, and internal policies.

• Seek clinical guidance from recommended references and the Clinical Director and/or Medical Director.

• Effectively manage challenging patients, employing verbal de-escalation techniques when necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner.

• Currently holds a Board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner license (PMHNP).

• Demonstrated experience in Addiction and Mental Health.

• Willingness to obtain additional state licenses as required.

• Experience in Motivational Interviewing.

• Commitment to collaborating with clients to achieve their goals.

• Experience in providing care to adults requiring general mental health and/or severe mental illness (SMI) treatment.

• Proficient and comfortable working with patients across various age groups (ages 13 and up).

• Knowledgeable about mental health diagnoses and/or dual diagnoses related to substance abuse.

• Skilled in treatment planning.

• Ability to conduct and utilize comprehensive assessments effectively.

• Capable of producing timely and high-quality documentation; experienced with EHR systems.

• Adaptable to technology, including telehealth software, and comfortable with video communication.

• Aware of and compliant with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 regulations.

• Eligible to work in the United States; no visa sponsorship or work eligibility assistance is available.

• For clinicians with a Florida or New York license, an active DEA registration is required, which must be obtained and maintained by the clinician.
