Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, PMHNP

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Evaluate adolescent and adult patients, or individuals across the lifespan, based on their symptoms and concerns.

• Assess the mental and physical condition of patients.

• Identify psychiatric disorders and mental health issues for diagnosis.

• Differentiate between physiologically- and psychologically-based disorders and provide accurate diagnoses.

• Conduct individual psychotherapy for both chronic and acute mental health disorders.

• Order diagnostic tests, including EKGs and laboratory work.

• Prescribe psychotropic medications, including controlled substances, while educating patients about risks, benefits, and side effects.

• Monitor the use of medications, their side effects, and treatment outcomes.

• Evaluate patient behavior and their response to treatment.

• Verbally de-escalate challenging patients when necessary.

• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to design, implement, and assess treatment plans.

• Provide education to patients and families regarding mental health issues, treatment plans, and medication usage.

• Record medical and psychological histories, assessments, diagnoses, treatment plans, prescriptions, and outcomes.

• Complete administrative documentation related to patient care, including FMLA and other approved forms.

• Schedule and coordinate follow-up appointments and ongoing treatment.

• Conduct patient visits and ensure accurate documentation in the EHR.

• Adhere to HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, national standards of care, and internal policies.

• Utilize recommended resources and consult the Clinical Director and/or Medical Director for clinical guidance.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner.

• Currently possesses a Board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner license (PMHNP).

• Experience in Addiction and Mental Health fields.

• Willingness to acquire additional state licenses.

• Experience in Motivational Interviewing.

• Commitment to collaborating with clients to achieve their goals.

• Must have experience working with adults requiring general mental health and/or severe mental illness (SMI) treatment.

• Experience and comfort in working with patients across the lifespan (ages 13 and older).

• Knowledge of mental health diagnoses and/or dual diagnoses involving substance abuse.

• Skills in treatment planning.

• Ability to perform and utilize comprehensive assessments effectively.

• Timely and high-quality documentation experience; familiarity with EHRs.

• Adaptability to technology, including telehealth software; comfort with video communication.

• Understanding of and compliance with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 regulations.

• Eligibility to work in the United States; no visa sponsorship or assistance with work eligibility available.

• Clinicians with a Florida or New York license must maintain an active DEA registration.

• Proficiency in Spanish and other languages is preferred; prior telehealth and Community Mental Health experience is a plus.
