Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, PMHNP

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Deliver care to adolescent and adult patients, or throughout the lifespan, as designated

• Evaluate patients’ mental and physical conditions based on presenting symptoms and concerns

• Identify psychiatric disorders and mental health issues

• Differentiate between physiologically- and psychologically-based conditions and diagnose accordingly

• Provide individual psychotherapy for both chronic and acute mental health disorders

• Request diagnostic tests such as EKGs and laboratory work

• Prescribe psychotropic medications, including controlled substances, and inform patients about risks, benefits, and side effects

• Oversee medication usage, side effects, and treatment outcomes

• Assess patient behavior and their response to treatment

• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to create, implement, and review treatment plans

• Educate patients and their families regarding mental health conditions, treatment strategies, and medications

• Record medical and psychological histories, evaluations, diagnoses, treatment plans, prescriptions, and results

• Complete administrative paperwork, including FMLA and other Brave-approved documents

• Organize and manage follow-up appointments and ongoing treatment requirements

• Conduct patient visits and ensure accurate documentation in the EHR

• Adhere to HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, national care standards, and internal policies

• Seek clinical guidance from the Clinical Director and/or Medical Director when necessary

⛳️ Requirements

• 2 years of experience working as a Nurse Practitioner

• Currently possesses a Board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner license (PMHNP)

• Experience in Addiction and Mental Health

• Open to acquiring additional state licenses

• Knowledge of Motivational Interviewing techniques

• Commitment to collaborating with clients to meet their goals

• Must have experience working with adults requiring general mental health and/or severe mental illness (SMI) treatment

• Must be comfortable working with patients throughout the lifespan (ages 13 years and older)

• Understanding of mental health diagnoses and/or dual diagnoses of substance abuse

• Proficient in treatment planning

• Capable of conducting and utilizing comprehensive assessments

• Timely and quality documentation skills; experience with EHR systems

• Adaptable to technology, including telehealth software; comfortable with video communication

• Knowledge of and compliance with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2

• Eligible to work in the United States; no visa sponsorship or assistance with work eligibility

• For clinicians holding a Florida or New York license, an active DEA registration is required and must be acquired and maintained by the clinician
