Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, PMHNP

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Evaluate adolescent and adult patients, or those across the lifespan, based on their presenting symptoms and concerns.

• Diagnose psychiatric disorders and mental health issues.

• Differentiate between physiologically and psychologically based disorders for accurate diagnosis.

• Provide individual psychotherapy for both chronic and acute mental health disorders.

• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to develop, implement, and assess treatment plans.

• Order diagnostic tests such as EKGs and laboratory work.

• Prescribe psychotropic medications, which may include controlled substances.

• Educate patients and their families regarding mental health conditions, treatment plans, medications, and the associated risks, benefits, and side effects.

• Monitor medication adherence, side effects, treatment results, behaviors, and responses.

• Effectively manage challenging patients and utilize verbal de-escalation techniques when necessary.

• Document medical and psychological histories, evaluations, diagnoses, treatment plans, prescriptions, and outcomes in the electronic health record (EHR).

• Complete necessary administrative documentation, including FMLA and Brave-approved forms.

• Schedule and coordinate follow-up appointments and ongoing treatment requirements.

• Practice in alignment with HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, national care standards, and internal policies.

• Consult relevant references and seek guidance from the Clinical Director and/or Medical Director for clinical matters.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a Nurse Practitioner.

• Currently holds a Board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner license (PMHNP).

• Experience in both Addiction and Mental Health fields.

• Open to obtaining additional state licenses as needed.

• Experience with Motivational Interviewing techniques.

• Willingness to collaborate with clients to achieve their goals.

• Must have experience working with adults requiring general mental health and/or severe mental illness (SMI) treatment.

• Experience and comfort in working with patients across the lifespan (ages 13 years and older).

• Knowledgeable in mental health diagnoses and/or dual diagnoses involving substance abuse.

• Proficient in treatment planning.

• Capable of conducting and utilizing comprehensive assessments.

• Demonstrated ability to provide timely and quality documentation; experience with EHR systems.

• Adaptable to technology, including telehealth software; comfortable with video communication.

• Knowledge of and compliance with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 regulations.

• Eligible to work in the United States with unrestricted work authorization without the need for visa sponsorship or renewal.

• For clinicians licensed in Florida or New York, an active DEA registration is required, which must be obtained and maintained by the clinician.

• Spanish-speaking candidates and those with previous telehealth experience are preferred.
