Property Claims Representative

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut, +9 more states.

📋 Description

• Promptly and fairly investigate and resolve property claims.

• Assess files to ensure accurate and timely reserving of claims.

• Oversee indemnity and loss-related expenses.

• Conduct investigations to ascertain liability and determine claim valuation.

• Adjust schedules to meet customer requirements and adapt to changes in work volume.

• Manage claims with moderate severity and complexity, with authority up to $45,000.

• Supervise claim procedures, file management, documentation, and reporting.

• Utilize knowledge of Preferred Mutual products and coverages effectively.

• Adhere to file quality standards set by both internal and external audits.

• Maintain workload in line with Key Performance Driver standards.

• Identify indicators of fraud and leverage claim-management data to guide decisions.

• Manage low- to moderate-complexity property losses.

• Review reports from Independent Adjusters and vendors to assess coverage positions.

• Evaluate estimates for accuracy and detect reserve-change triggers.

• Compose basic coverage position letters.

• Identify and pursue third-party contributions and recoveries, including subrogation.

• Manage litigated or potentially litigated files and coordinate with management.

• Cultivate relationships with internal and external business partners.

• Collaborate with Independent Adjusters and stakeholders to ensure positive customer experiences.

• Engage in discussions with Marketing and Agency personnel.

• Contribute to training initiatives for new hires and existing staff.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

• A Bachelor's degree is preferred.

• At least 2 years of experience in handling and processing property claims.

• Progress towards obtaining a professional designation, such as AIC, CPCU, or SCLA, is preferred.

• Outstanding active listening and effective oral and written communication skills.

• Ability to make timely, well-informed, fact-driven decisions.

• Strong time management and project management abilities.

• Skills in collaboration, group decision-making, problem-solving, and negotiation.

• Integrity in all duties and interactions.

• Proficiency with Preferred Mutual technology platforms, including Windows, Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, and internet-based applications.

• Working knowledge of building materials and construction techniques.

• Familiarity with Personal Lines policies and an understanding of Commercial Lines policies.

• Ability to identify applicable coverages, endorsements, and exclusions.

• Capacity to independently draft basic coverage position letters and recognize relevant policy citations.

• Understanding of subrogation and third-party contribution and recovery processes.

• Ability to manage litigated or potentially litigated files.
