This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Wisconsin.
• Oversee the daily operations of Southeast Asian Language Council (SEALC) programs.
• Direct the four-year grant-supported initiative “Toward Sustainable Southeast Asian Language Education: Collaboration, Access, and Capacity Building.”
• Foster partnerships with North American institutions and programs that provide Southeast Asian language instruction.
• Collaborate with GETSEA, SEASSI, COTSEAL, language organizations, project personnel, committees, stakeholders, curriculum developers, workshop hosts, presenters, and participants.
• Monitor national offerings of Southeast Asian languages and explore opportunities for course-sharing, exchanges, pilot programs, and scholarships.
• Articulate the significance of Southeast Asian language education to students, scholars, and the community.
• Design and implement professional development workshops, project funding, and tuition awards.
• Promote workshops, manage participant selection, conduct surveys, arrange travel logistics, summarize survey findings, and collect deliverables.
• Coordinate honoraria and workshop expense invoicing with financial staff and participants.
• Produce workshop summary reports and compile and disseminate Virtual Language Institute information.
• Assist with scholarship applications for asynchronous language courses.
• Develop meeting agendas, attend meetings, record and distribute minutes, and prepare materials for the annual stakeholder meeting.
• Manage the SEALC WordPress website, workshop pages, social media accounts, and instructor newsletters.
• Support the SEALC Principal Investigator with annual reports for stakeholders and the Luce Foundation.
• Create project plans, track progress, and identify and address or escalate risks and issues.
• Establish priorities, delegate tasks, supervise contractors, estimate costs and resources, monitor activities, and report on project status.
• A Bachelor's Degree is required.
• A Plain Language series certificate is mandatory, or the ability to enroll in this training at UW-Madison post-hire if necessary.
• Exceptional oral and written communication abilities.
• Strong administrative capabilities, time management skills, and a keen attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Google Suite, Qualtrics, Word, Excel, Zoom, and Box or other collaborative file-sharing tools.
• Experience in website development and maintenance, such as WordPress or another content management system.
• Familiarity with listserv communications through MailChimp or similar platforms.
• Competence in utilizing social media platforms for project promotion and outreach.
• Willingness to travel for in-person events.
• Availability for occasional evenings and weekends.
• Capability to work independently and collaboratively within a diverse and multilingual community.
• Three professional references are required.
• A focus in Southeast Asian Studies is preferred.
• Project management experience is preferred, ideally within an academic setting.
• Academic or professional experience in Southeast Asia is preferred.
• Employment may necessitate a criminal background check and inquiries related to misconduct references.
• Part-time appointment at 50% capacity.
