Project Manager – Airports

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee a variety of airport deployment projects from the handoff after preconstruction to the final completion and closeout stages.

• Create and maintain project schedules, budgets, procurement strategies, and deployment milestones.

• Act as the main point of contact for airport authorities, airlines, terminal operators, landlords, concessionaires, and other involved parties.

• Coordinate activities among contractors, subcontractors, specialty fabricators, utility providers, and consultants.

• Supervise procurement and fabrication processes, including the management of long-lead materials and equipment.

• Facilitate airport badging, security clearances, access permits, escorts, work windows, airside requirements, and operational limitations.

• Manage installation sequencing and phasing to reduce disruptions to airport operations.

• Organize utility outages, temporary services, shutdowns, inspections, testing, commissioning, and system activation.

• Review construction documents, shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, and change requests.

• Identify project risks, field conflicts, scheduling impacts, and operational constraints while developing strategies to mitigate them.

• Monitor contractor performance, quality, safety, and adherence to schedules.

• Lead regular project meetings, documenting decisions and action items.

• Coordinate inspections, punch lists, final testing, commissioning, turnover documentation, warranties, and project closeout.

• Maintain comprehensive project documentation, financial tracking, and reporting.

• Track commitments, forecast costs, review invoices, manage change orders, and ensure accurate financial reporting.

• Ensure compliance with airport standards, building codes, ADA requirements, FAA regulations where applicable, and company safety policies.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Project Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred; equivalent education and relevant commercial construction experience may also be considered.

• 3 to 10 years of experience managing commercial construction, infrastructure, transportation, or design-build projects.

• Proven experience leading projects in active operational settings such as airports, transit facilities, campuses, or other occupied public areas.

• Ability to coordinate contractors, consultants, regulatory agencies, and various internal and external stakeholders.

• Experience with permitting, utility coordination, construction administration, procurement, project scheduling, commissioning, and project closeout.

• Background in managing specialty construction projects that involve signage, electrical systems, structural installations, digital displays, architectural features, or transportation infrastructure.

• Strong grasp of construction sequencing and field coordination.

• Capability to identify risks, resolve complex field issues, and make sound decisions in dynamic project environments.

• Exceptional organizational, communication, negotiation, and relationship management abilities.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.

• Willingness to travel up to 70% to support project deployment activities.

• Experience collaborating directly with airport authorities or on aviation-related construction projects.

• Familiarity with display technology and signage.

• Understanding of airport security protocols, badging requirements, operational work windows, and airside and landside construction practices.

• Experience with Bluebeam, eBuilder, SiteTracker, Microsoft Project, or similar construction management platforms.
