This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia.
• Establish and head PLACE's newly formed Project Management Office.
• Develop systems, tools, and reporting cycles for annual, quarterly, and project-level activities.
• Provide real-time oversight of PLACE's entire program of work.
• Evaluate existing project processes prior to suggesting enhancements.
• Create a more consistent and better-supported project delivery approach for a distributed, remote-first team.
• Oversee back-office project operations, including portfolio tracking, reporting, and resource allocation.
• Establish and maintain registers for project risks, issues, dependencies, and decisions.
• Implement consistent escalation and resolution processes.
• Ensure project processes and reporting align with PLACE's Theory of Change and its evaluation and learning strategy.
• Cultivate strong working relationships within PLACE's distributed, remote-first team.
• Implement systems to track project delivery and guarantee that activities are completed on schedule and within scope.
• Establish an external panel of specialists and experts for contracted project work.
• Adapt the PMO function as PLACE's structure evolves following its recent restructuring.
• Proven experience in project management or PMO roles, preferably within a remote or distributed team.
• Strong diagnostic abilities; assess situations before proposing solutions.
• Collaborative mindset and comfort in engaging with diverse stakeholders across a distributed team.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity and manage competing priorities with a proactive and adaptable approach.
• Capability to simplify complex information and present insights in an accessible manner to non-project management specialists.
• Relevant project management certification such as PRINCE2, PMP, AgilePM, or equivalent is preferred.
• Commitment to PLACE's vision, values, and principles, especially community leadership and shared decision-making.
