This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama.
• Design, configure, and enhance business process workflows utilizing Appian Designer.
• Collaborate with business product owners, operations leaders, technology teams, and risk partners to collect requirements, map processes, define user needs, and prioritize enhancements.
• Take ownership of and manage product backlog items, including user stories, acceptance criteria, specifications, process flows, UI concepts, test scenarios, and release-ready requirements.
• Facilitate stakeholder working sessions to define current-state and future-state workflows, identify friction points, iterate on MVP designs, resolve issues, and drive consensus.
• Assess opportunities to leverage shared capabilities across workflows and business domains.
• Employ AI-assisted and agentic AI tools for discovery, process analysis, documentation, prototyping, testing, defect analysis, and communication regarding delivery.
• Utilize design thinking, analytics, business process engineering, and user feedback to guide product decisions and foster continuous improvement.
• Assist in QA, UAT, regression testing, and production validation by defining scenarios, validating builds, documenting defects, and confirming release readiness.
• Collaborate with technology teams on integrations, data dependencies, security, platform constraints, and production support.
• Stay updated with Appian capabilities and suggest responsible applications of new features.
• Advocate for Appian governance, reusability, modular design, shared patterns, versioning, packaging, maintainability, and controlled delivery.
• Engage in agile ceremonies, including standups, planning, refinement, demos, and retrospectives.
• Develop and maintain Appian reports and dashboards, assisting in the definition of meaningful KPIs.
• Comply with risk, regulatory, and internal control standards; escalate risk issues and implement audit or regulatory action items.
• Foster a sense of belonging and embody the M&T Bank brand.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
• Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 10 years of experience in business, analytics, technical fields, digital product, transformation, or product ownership, or alternatively, a combined total of at least 14 years of higher education and/or relevant work experience, including a minimum of 10 years of pertinent experience.
• Practical experience with Appian, including building, configuring, testing, or supporting workflows, forms, interfaces, records, process models, reports, dashboards, or related Appian components.
• Background in financial services and/or fintech, with exposure to regulated business processes, operational risk, client service, banking, wealth management, trust services, payments, capital markets, lending, compliance, or similar fields.
• Experience in roles such as product owner, product analyst, business analyst, transformation lead, or workflow designer within an agile or iterative delivery environment.
• Proficiency in writing user stories, acceptance criteria, specifications, process flows, business rules, UI concepts, testing scenarios, or release documentation.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Familiarity with QA, UAT, regression testing, defect triage, test case development, production validation, or other quality assurance practices.
• Working knowledge of AI-assisted tools or agentic AI concepts and the ability to use AI in a responsible manner.
• Capability to bridge the gap between business and technical teams, elucidating technical constraints, risks, dependencies, and trade-offs.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize competing tasks, work independently, and deliver results in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
• Appian Level 1 certification or higher, or equivalent hands-on experience, is preferred.
• Familiarity with SAIL expressions, Appian governance, reusability, versioning, packaging, release management, Appian AI, Case Management Studio, RPA, data fabric, connected systems, integrations, document management workflows, other low-code platforms, process mapping, service design, UX, Agile, Lean, design thinking, systems thinking, and continuous improvement is preferred.
