Product Engineering Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants anywhere in the world.

📋 Description

• Oversee the daily operations of the API and frontend teams, ensuring they remain unblocked, conducting reviews, and facilitating continuous delivery.

• Establish and uphold a high standard for engineering excellence in terms of performance, reliability, and well-structured APIs.

• Take ownership of the technical design for features and the API interface connecting Keet's core with the application.

• Collaborate with the API team and specialized technical teams on code evaluations, design considerations, and engine-related tasks.

• Work closely with product managers to translate vision and roadmaps into actionable, buildable projects.

• Challenge discrepancies between scope and reality while suggesting improved implementation strategies.

• Provide an engineering perspective on product decisions that involve P2P functionalities.

• Utilize AI tools and rapid prototypes to assess and validate concepts.

• Clarify team objectives and establish success metrics.

• Mentor team leads and enhance team operating systems and collaborative efforts.

• Set a strong example while empowering teams to take ownership of their work.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in managing engineers or engineering leads who have successfully delivered consumer products, preferably in chat, calling, or social applications.

• Strong sense of product development.

• Intuitive understanding of distributed and local-first systems.

• Knowledge of offline-first concepts and eventual consistency.

• Proficient in JavaScript and React.

• Demonstrated initiative, curiosity, resilience, and the ability to engage in direct critiques.

• Bonus: Experience with local-first applications, CRDTs or synchronization engines, offline-capable mobile or desktop applications, or open-source contributions.
