This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +5 more states.
• Oversee the entire development process of cutting tool products, from initial concept to market launch.
• Research and assess new technologies, materials, coatings, manufacturing techniques, and industry developments.
• Design and refine solid carbide, carbide-tipped, ceramic, PCD, CBN, and specialty cutting tools.
• Develop and confirm product performance through laboratory and production evaluations.
• Formulate test plans, interpret results, and offer recommendations based on data analysis.
• Explore coatings, grades, additive manufacturing, and digital manufacturing innovations.
• Create and implement digital engineering tools, databases, software applications, and AI-driven solutions.
• Collaborate with manufacturing teams to facilitate the transition of new products into production.
• Conduct competitive benchmarking and evaluate product performance.
• Promote continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing product performance, quality, cost efficiency, and manufacturability.
• Keep abreast of market trends, customer needs, and advancements in the industry.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, specifications, and product documentation.
• Assist with end-user engagements at customer sites and machine tool manufacturers.
• Collaborate with the design team to optimize workflows and procedures.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline, such as mechanical or manufacturing engineering.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in product development, R&D, manufacturing, or cutting tool design.
• Advanced knowledge and expertise in metal cutting applications.
• Preferred experience with CAD/CAM software including AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Siemens NX, and/or Mastercam.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities regarding basic manufacturing processes.
• Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the capability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with diverse teams and stakeholders.
• Ability to travel to all facilities by driving or flying.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, with a desired travel rate of 30%.
