Pro Fee Coding Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Oklahoma.

📋 Description

• Examine medical record documentation and assign appropriate diagnoses and procedure codes.

• Modify or rectify diagnosis and procedure codes submitted by healthcare providers.

• Implement current coding and billing standards to guarantee precise claims submissions.

• Oversee coding and billing performance and address denials associated with coding mistakes.

• Evaluate charge corrections and rebilling requests to resolve coding denials.

• Investigate patterns in claims denials and formulate preventive strategies.

• Generate regular reports for clinical staff highlighting corrective actions.

• Guide and educate providers on documentation and billing policies, procedures, and regulations.

• Seek clarification from providers concerning conflicting, ambiguous, or vague documentation.

• Inform providers and office personnel about coding, billing, documentation, and regulatory updates.

• Collaborate with providers, office staff, billing teams, quality assurance, compliance, and coding resources.

• Keep abreast of coding regulations through seminars, reviews, and coding journals.

⛳️ Requirements

• GED or High School diploma.

• One of the following certifications: CCS, CPC, BCHH-C, RHIA, RHIT, or HCCS; applicants lacking a required certification must secure one within one year of employment.

• Strong knowledge and comprehension of medical records and coding documentation.

• Basic skills in using coding encoders.

• Familiarity with Microsoft 365 and other relevant software applications.

• Capacity to assess whether records are sufficiently complete for coding.

• Ability to function both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment while juggling multiple priorities and deadlines.

• Preferred experience and/or training in human anatomy, physiology, disease processes, and coding-related clinical concepts.

• Preferred 2 years of relevant experience.
