Coder – Inpatient

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +46 more states.

📋 Description

• Analyzes and interprets medical data, physician treatment strategies, outcomes, and courses to assign the correct ICD codes for diagnoses and procedures.

• Extracts data elements to fulfill statistical requests from the hospital, health system, medical staff, and others, entering all coded and abstracted information into the designated system.

• Ensures effective management of medical information and cash flow concerning the unbilled coding report.

• Stays updated on changes in ICD guidelines by participating in relevant training, reviewing coding clinics and additional resources, and implementing these updates in daily practices.

• Performs additional duties as assigned or required.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School diploma or GED.

• At least 1 year of experience in hospital coding.

• Successful completion of coding courses in anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.

• Certification as a Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified In-patient Professional Coder (CIC).

• Familiarity with medical terminology.

• Proficient data entry skills.

• Understanding of computer applications.

• Ability to collaborate effectively with healthcare team members.
