Principal Streaming Technology Expert

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Investigate intricate technical queries pertaining to products, architecture, protocols, and implementations.

• Formulate evidence-driven technical stances on complex issues.

• Collaborate with both internal stakeholders and external specialists for technical evaluations.

• Prepare comprehensive technical reports, diagrams, comparisons, and supporting documentation.

• Articulate complex streaming technologies to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Conduct research on technologies, standards, publications, implementations, and industry practices.

• Compare company solutions with industry standards and implementations.

• Perform technical risk assessments regarding technologies, standards, and third-party solutions.

• Assist in technical due diligence and risk evaluations for products and architectural choices.

• Monitor technology trends and advancements within the streaming ecosystem.

• Stay informed about emerging technical risks that may impact technology strategies.

• Execute in-depth technical research relevant to the streaming platform and its products.

• Maintain documentation covering architecture, protocols, data flows, algorithms, DRM, CDNs, and media pipelines.

• Create technical diagrams, implementation assessments, and historical technical records.

• Investigate third-party technologies, standards, open-source components, and commercial solutions.

• Preserve institutional knowledge surrounding key architectural and engineering decisions.

• Serve as a streaming technology expert across engineering, product, executive, and cross-functional teams.

• Review significant architectural decisions that require further technical evaluation or risk assessment.

• Collaborate with senior engineers and architects on intricate technical reviews.

• Independently assess source code, specifications, standards, protocols, and production architectures.

• Provide independent technical insight on complex or sensitive technology issues.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive practical knowledge of video/audio streaming architectures, protocols, codecs, CDNs, and related technologies.

• Capability to independently analyze complex technical systems, standards, implementations, and architectures.

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to clarify complex technical topics to non-technical audiences.

• Native or near-native proficiency in English.

• Experience working with complex technical reviews involving stakeholders based in the US (preferred).

• Experience in preparing technical documents for external review or formal evaluation (preferred).
