This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Create and manage website content within Sitecore.
• Design, format, publish, and revise web pages in accordance with established publishing protocols and brand guidelines.
• Convert approved communications into compelling web pages with suitable structure, hierarchy, formatting, links, visuals, and calls to action.
• Assess pages for precision, consistency, accessibility, functionality, and overall user experience.
• Handle numerous publishing requests and adhere to deadlines.
• Resolve routine publishing challenges and collaborate with platform managers for technical assistance when necessary.
• Implement metadata, tags, and taxonomy standards to enhance searchability and support enterprise information architecture.
• Keep page metadata, including titles, descriptions, and keywords, up to date.
• Collaborate with communicators to ascertain the desired appearance and functionality of content on the website.
• Provide consultation on layout, content organization, navigation, headlines, links, and imagery to enhance user experience (UX).
• Assist communicators in understanding effective web practices.
• Suggest modifications when content, structure, or timing could impact page performance.
• Work alongside designers to execute visual concepts and ensure design consistency.
• Collaborate with web/platform managers on publishing standards, templates, components, functionalities, and technical challenges.
• Elevate issues as necessary and contribute to the ongoing enhancement of publishing procedures and site experience.
• Appropriately manage confidential, sensitive, and time-critical information.
• Adhere to content approval and release processes, exercising judgment on content readiness for publication.
• Navigate competing priorities, including high-profile or time-sensitive communications.
• Maintain precision and discretion with unpublished information.
• Ensure web content complies with accessibility standards, including alt text, headings, link labels, and color contrast.
• Collaborate with designers, developers, and communicators to identify and resolve accessibility concerns.
• Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, digital media, information technology, or a related field, with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience; 4 additional years of experience may substitute for a degree.
• Over 3 years of experience in digital content, web publishing, communications, marketing, content management, or a related field.
• Proven experience in publishing, managing, or maintaining content on a website or digital platform, preferably within a matrixed organization.
• Strong grasp of web user experience and content presentation.
• Exceptional attention to detail, encompassing accuracy, links, formatting, and page presentation.
• Ability to collaborate effectively across communications, creative, technology, and business sectors.
• Excellent interpersonal and consulting abilities; capable of guiding partners without being overly prescriptive.
• Capacity to view content from the audience's perspective and enhance its discoverability, clarity, and usability.
• Strong organizational abilities; adept at managing multiple requests and deadlines.
• Sound judgment, discretion, and professionalism when handling sensitive information.
• Quick learner of new tools and systems, capable of working within established processes while identifying opportunities for improvement.
• Familiarity with enterprise CMS platforms such as Sitecore, Adobe Experience Manager, WordPress, Drupal, or similar is preferred.
• Experience collaborating with web designers, UX, or digital communications teams is preferred.
• Background in supporting content authors or communicators in web publishing is preferred.
• Understanding of accessibility, responsive design, SEO, and foundational web content standards is preferred.
• Experience in a large, complex organization with multiple stakeholders and approval processes is preferred.
• Sitecore experience and/or certification is not mandatory.
• U.S. citizenship is required for positions needing government clearance and certain other restricted roles.
