This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Iowa.
• Evaluate First Article Inspections for newly introduced or modified components, assemblies, or materials
• Examine engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
• Assess parts for dimensional, material, and functional compliance
• Partner with suppliers to address issues identified in FAIR reports
• Liaise with design, manufacturing, and quality teams to resolve discrepancies and non-conformities
• Ensure adherence to AS9100, AS9102, regulatory standards, and company policies
• Mentor and train team members on FAI procedures and best practices
• Identify and implement improvements to the FAI process
• Aid in the deployment of digital solutions and automated data analytics
• Oversee moderately sized projects or processes as required
• Collaborate with the supplier FAI Center of Excellence team located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa
• Travel up to 30% to suppliers and Collins locations, including Cedar Rapids
• Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or at least 3 years of relevant experience with an advanced degree
• Background in quality control, inspection, or related areas
• Familiarity with engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications
• Knowledge of First Article Inspection requirements, including AS9102 and PPAP
• Experience with special process assessments and audits, such as NDT, heat treating, welding, brazing, plating, and chemical processing specifications
• Competence in using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and Net-Inspect
• Experience with quality management systems and ERP systems
• Proficient in MS Office applications
• Strong organizational and documentation abilities
• Capable of analyzing and interpreting data
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
