This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Turkey.
• Take charge of the technical vision and roadmap for Sezzle’s authentication and authorization platform, which includes an API auth gateway and identity services.
• Design, architect, and develop scalable, highly available authentication services and gateway components, primarily utilizing Golang.
• Lead phased migrations of authentication traffic and functionality with zero downtime, incorporating rollback and safety mechanisms.
• Set authentication and authorization standards that encompass OAuth2/OIDC, token strategies, service-to-service authentication, and fine-grained authorization.
• Ensure consistency and scalability throughout the distributed microservices architecture while maintaining performance, reliability, and latency budgets.
• Collaborate with Security and Compliance teams to adhere to fintech-grade security and regulatory standards.
• Develop engineering best practices for observability, security, and CI/CD across various teams.
• Engage in the on-call rotation and lead incident response and postmortem analyses.
• Mentor engineers, fostering an environment of learning, innovation, and operational excellence.
• Work cross-functionally to align business objectives with technical roadmaps and achieve results.
• Assist in defining effective AI-tooling practices for security-sensitive systems.
• Over 12 years of professional software engineering experience, with a strong focus on backend development.
• Experience deploying significant changes to a production application in the last 30 days.
• Extensive hands-on knowledge of authentication and authorization systems, including OAuth2, OpenID Connect, SAML, JWT, session-based authentication, token lifecycle management, RBAC, ABAC, and policy-as-code.
• Experience in designing, building, or operating an API gateway or auth proxy at scale.
• Proven track record in leading large-scale service extraction or migration with minimal or no impact on customers.
• High proficiency in Golang with experience in building and maintaining RESTful APIs.
• Expertise in SQL-based RDBMS, including MySQL and PostgreSQL, along with query/schema optimization at scale.
• Understanding of distributed systems design patterns, such as transactional outbox, event-driven architecture, and queues.
• Capability to propose ideas, influence decisions, and lead complex technical initiatives across teams.
• Evidence of current use of AI development tools like Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or custom LLM integrations.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field (mandatory).
• Preferred qualifications include knowledge of identity platforms, service mesh and edge technologies, threat modeling, observability tools, AWS/Aurora RDS, fintech or payments, CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, commercial APIs, and platform infrastructure.
