Principal Software Engineer

📋 Description

• Spearhead architectural design, technical execution, and implementation for Toast’s Team Suite offerings, including Payroll and Team Management.

• Guide developers, product managers, designers, and user researchers in establishing robust technical infrastructure.

• Take ownership of architecture pertaining to authentication, authorization, and organizational hierarchy within the organization.

• Revolutionize the conventional SaaS platform into a more agentic system of action.

• Propel extensive end-to-end initiatives and fundamental architecture modifications.

• Define and lead technical strategies for challenges impacting various aspects of the business.

• Mentor developers across diverse teams through code pairing as well as thorough code, architecture, and project reviews.

• Advocate for best practices in development, deployment, and quality lifecycle management.

• Utilize AI tools to enhance development workflows, boost velocity, and introduce innovative software development methodologies.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in defining and implementing large-scale SaaS solutions.

• Profound knowledge of identity and access architecture, including authentication, permissions models, and multi-entity organizational hierarchies within a multi-tenant SaaS framework.

• Comprehensive technology experience encompassing tiered web applications, microservices, mobile, API design patterns, Java, Kotlin, React, and data analytics.

• Strong passion for agentic development practices, LLM integration, and contemporary software paradigms.

• Experience with integration design patterns across large-scale, data-rich enterprise systems.

• Demonstrated ability to foster partnerships across engineering, product, customer success, and other stakeholders.

• Interest and experience in mentoring colleagues.

• Proven ability to maintain and guide teams towards high technical quality.

• Willingness to undertake challenging technical projects.
