Principal Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ukraine.

📋 Description

• Engage in presales activities, discovery sessions, technical workshops, tenders, and RFI/RFP evaluations.

• Convert business requirements into scalable technical solutions and implementation strategies.

• Architect enterprise-level systems for Java-based distributed architectures and microservices platforms.

• Develop technical proposals, estimations, architecture diagrams, delivery assumptions, and implementation roadmaps.

• Determine technology stack, infrastructure strategies, integrations, security principles, and team structure.

• Present and advocate for technical solutions during discussions with customers and stakeholder meetings.

• Assist Sales and Delivery teams during presales and the initiation of projects.

• Lead the technical project startup phase and translate high-level concepts into actionable implementation strategies.

• Establish architecture standards, engineering protocols, and best practices for development.

• Mentor engineering teams during the initial stages of delivery, supporting onboarding and conducting technical interviews.

• Perform architecture and code reviews to guarantee scalability, maintainability, and adherence to security standards.

• Address complex technical challenges and provide guidance to Senior and Lead Engineers.

• Drive technical decision-making while balancing business objectives, delivery timelines, and quality standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in software engineering with significant technical leadership roles.

• Proficient hands-on experience in Java ecosystem development.

• Extensive knowledge of Spring and Spring Boot.

• Strong understanding of microservices and distributed systems architecture.

• Experience in designing and implementing REST APIs and event-driven architectures.

• Practical knowledge of Kafka or similar messaging technologies.

• Familiarity with both relational and NoSQL databases.

• Strong experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.

• Proficient with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure automation.

• Understanding of application security, monitoring, logging, and observability practices.

• Experience working with incomplete or ambiguous requirements and transforming them into technical solutions.

• Background in participating in presales, discovery phases, solution proposals, or tender processes.

• Strong skills in estimation and solution design.

• Excellent communication and presentation skills in customer-facing situations.

• Ability to independently drive technical initiatives and assume ownership.

• Upper-Intermediate English proficiency.
