Principal Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Iowa.

📋 Description

• Spearhead the design, development, and enhancement of comprehensive full-stack solutions, encompassing frontend, backend, and enterprise integration layers.

• Take ownership of and advance the enterprise GraphQL API platform to ensure optimal performance, scalability, and security.

• Design and construct frontend applications utilizing React and Next.js frameworks.

• Establish and promote UI development standards and patterns across multiple teams.

• Collaborate with product owners, business stakeholders, and technical teams to convert complex requirements into sustainable solutions.

• Set and uphold standards for API design, frontend architecture, code quality, testing, and CI/CD practices.

• Lead architectural discussions and decisions regarding integration patterns, frontend architecture, and enterprise connectivity.

• Provide guidance and mentorship to senior, mid-level, and junior developers.

• Engage with MS SQL, PostgreSQL, and Oracle DB data layers.

• Enhance CI/CD pipelines, containerization strategies, and deployment methodologies.

• Advocate for AI, automation, and emerging technologies to minimize manual tasks and boost engineering efficiency.

⛳️ Requirements

• 8+ years of professional experience in software engineering.

• Minimum of 3 years in a principal, staff, or equivalent senior technical leadership position.

• Expert-level proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript in both frontend and backend contexts.

• Extensive experience with React and Next.js, covering server-side rendering, application routing, state management, and component architecture.

• Strong proficiency in Node.js and backend service development.

• In-depth experience with GraphQL and REST API design, implementation, and governance.

• Solid understanding of API architecture, as well as authentication and authorization mechanisms, including OAuth and JWT.

• Practical experience with relational databases: MS SQL, PostgreSQL, and Oracle DB.

• Proficient in using Docker for containerization and deployment.

• Familiarity with event-driven architecture, including SNS/SQS and Kafka.

• Knowledge of API gateway technologies and microservices architecture.

• Ability to convey complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders and executive audiences.

• Proven track record of delivering scalable, high-quality solutions within enterprise settings.

• Preferred: experience with enterprise systems integration, such as CPQ, ERP, PLM, and CRM.

• Preferred: familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP.

• Preferred: experience with Jest, Playwright, Cypress, or similar testing frameworks.

• Preferred: understanding of design systems, accessibility standards, and UI performance optimization.

• Preferred: leadership and mentoring capabilities with technical influence at the organizational level.
