Principal Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Define the initial direction of products by determining what needs to be built, postponed, or eliminated.

• Create from the ground up and swiftly transition from concept to prototype to production.

• Deliver products that quickly reach users, enabling immediate feedback and learning.

• Make essential decisions regarding tools, architecture, and technical trade-offs.

• Gain insights directly from users, test assumptions rigorously, and adapt to evolving signals.

• Assess the usefulness, usability, differentiation, and economic viability in conjunction with technical feasibility.

• Work within small teams with minimal processes and achieve rapid daily advancements.

• Assist in determining whether opportunities develop into features, products, or entire companies.

• Collaborate with engineering, design, product management, research, and venture leadership.

• Engage in various AI-native projects within the venture studio.

⛳️ Requirements

• Significant experience in zero-to-one engineering.

• Proven track record in leading significant technical initiatives and influencing engineering strategy.

• Proficient in creating modern full-stack web products.

• Expertise in TypeScript throughout the stack.

• Experience with React-based front-end development.

• Skilled in Node.js backend services.

• Familiarity with PostgreSQL and cloud-native infrastructure.

• Experience with foundation model APIs, such as OpenAI and Anthropic.

• Knowledge of prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), tool calling, agent workflows, and evaluation techniques.

• Strong judgment in architectural and tooling decisions.

• Capability to thrive in ambiguous situations and make informed product, technical, and execution decisions.

• Availability to align with core Central Time working hours.

• Willingness to travel occasionally for planning sessions, venture activities, or team meetings.

• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across functions.
