Principal Software Development Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with Product Development architects, management, and product managers to ensure that products fulfill both technical and business specifications.

• Perform high-level research and analysis related to software design and development.

• Address intricate software development challenges and establish technical standards and best practices.

• Design and code units/modules to meet functional, non-functional, and quality standards within the specified timeline.

• Provide precise time estimates and complete assigned tasks punctually.

• Conduct unit/module testing, troubleshoot issues, resolve bugs, and implement enhancements.

• Assess software performance and propose improvements.

• Author and maintain technical documentation while supplying technical content for product documentation.

• Spearhead enhancements to Product Development practices and procedures.

• Engage in design and code reviews.

• Assist QA and technical support teams in identifying and resolving system-related issues.

• Mentor and nurture less experienced Software Engineers.

• Undertake strategic research and design for significant technical domains.

• Act as a subject matter expert and take ownership of a key product component.

• Collaborate with Product Management, Architecture, Marketing, QA, and other stakeholders.

• Participate in backlog grooming while communicating project status, risks, and challenges.

• Provide leadership for test automation, test planning, triage, troubleshooting, and ongoing improvement.

• Develop and execute automated and customer-focused test cases.

• Assist in establishing and influencing testing strategies across various product areas.

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline is required.

• Over 6 years of experience in software development.

• Extensive experience in handling complex products.

• Expert-level knowledge across multiple product domains.

• Prior experience in a technical leadership position.

• Capability to mentor fellow engineers.

• Proficient design, debugging, and coding abilities.

• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and requirements analysis skills.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Technical leadership and mentoring capabilities.

• Strong teamwork and cross-functional collaboration skills.

• Ability to identify and analyze defect root causes.

• Skill in prioritizing workload, managing time efficiently, and providing accurate estimates.

• Deep expertise in Java 8 server-side application development.

• J2EE experience with web applications, Servlets, and Filters.

• JavaScript/TypeScript experience with modern web front-end frameworks.

• Proficiency in MySQL schema design, query optimization, and performance tuning.

• Experience with Apache Tomcat configuration, deployment, and tuning.

• Strong understanding of web application architecture, REST APIs, and multi-tenant SaaS patterns.

• Familiarity with learning technologies is preferred.

• Experience in migrating monolithic architectures to modern frameworks, particularly Vue 3 and Tailwind CSS, is strongly preferred.

• Familiarity with AWS and CI/CD pipelines is valuable.

• Exposure to AI/LLM-powered product features is advantageous.

• Experience in the eLearning or content authoring sector is a plus.
