Principal Software Architect

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Deliver extensive business and technical knowledge across cloud-related areas.

• Serve as a technical authority, choose suitable technologies, and promote the use of Spec-Driven Development and AI-assisted workflows.

• Collaborate directly with clients to develop new features and modernize their technology infrastructures to enhance business growth.

• Engage in discussions at every phase of the technology adoption cycle with stakeholders ranging from CEOs to developers across various technical domains.

• Work with multiple accounts to establish yourself as a trusted technical advisor.

• Offer thought leadership while respectfully guiding and challenging clients.

• Supervise project teams to ensure technical outcomes align with customer business challenges, budgets, and timelines.

• Collaborate with Engagement Managers to oversee project scope, expectations, and delivery quality.

• Participate in the sales process in a pre-sales or similar role.

• Assist Account Executives and Presales Architects with project scoping and statements of work.

• Be actively involved in account management.

• Potentially lead a team of approximately five Architects and Engineers through one-on-one meetings, professional development, goal setting, feedback, issue escalation, and performance/promotion recommendations.

• Report directly to OpsGuru Leadership.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in delivering professional services or product management for workloads on AWS, Google Cloud, or Microsoft Azure.

• Extensive expertise in both frontend and backend development.

• Advanced knowledge of modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks such as React, Next.js, Vue, or Svelte.

• Experience with state management and contemporary CSS workflows, including Tailwind and CSS-in-JS.

• Significant experience in designing REST, GraphQL, or gRPC APIs and server-side architecture using Node.js, Go, or Python.

• Proficiency in at least three different programming languages, such as TypeScript, Python, Go, .NET, or Java.

• Familiarity with Spec-Driven Development tools and workflows for AI code generation.

• Capability to write “prompts as specs” and manage AI-generated artifacts.

• Ability to align technical refactoring and feature development with business objectives and growth metrics.

• Quick to learn unfamiliar codebases or new programming languages.

• Knowledgeable about microservices, event-driven architecture, Kubernetes, Docker, and SQL/NoSQL database internals.

• Skilled in adapting communication styles to suit individual team members.

• Competent in articulating the company’s mission and values to clients.

• Capable of providing honest and constructive feedback.

• Committed to owning team challenges until resolution.

• Proficient in establishing trust and fostering professional relationships.

• Able to conduct gap analysis discussions and define effective objectives.

• Adept at inspiring and motivating team members without micromanagement.

• Possesses strong emotional intelligence and listening abilities.

• Experienced in leading technical teams.

• Preferred: experience in transforming brownfield applications into modern architectures.

• Preferred: experience in migrating and modernizing on-premise applications to the Cloud.
