This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada, +3 more countries.
• Report directly to the Operations Director.
• Oversee the execution of mineral resource estimation and provide support for mineral reserve estimates.
• Offer guidance and management to resource geology and engineering teams.
• Conduct geological and mineral resource/mineral reserve due diligence assessments.
• Lead, author, and serve as the Qualified Person for NI 43-101, S-K 1300, and JORC technical reports.
• Coordinate contributions from external consultants and manage necessary certificates and consents.
• Develop technical disclosures that support public company filings.
• Ensure alignment between technical reports and public disclosures.
• Maintain compliance with international professional standards and government regulations.
• Guarantee the quality of geological models and grade-population domaining.
• Establish modeling and domaining standards and work practices.
• Conduct variography, grade interpolation, and resource model verification and validation.
• Perform grade-control and reconciliation studies.
• Execute exploratory data analysis.
• Train and mentor staff on mineral resource estimation methodologies.
• Assist in identifying and recruiting high-quality staff members.
• Support business development and manage strategic client relationships.
• An undergraduate or graduate degree in geology, geostatistics, geological or mining engineering, or a related mining field.
• Over 15 years of experience in resource development, operations, and geology with a focus on mineral resource estimation.
• More than 10 years of experience directly authoring multiple NI 43-101 and S-K 1300 technical reports.
• Professional Geologist (P.Geo) registration or eligibility for registration as a Professional Geoscientist or Engineer in Canada and/or the USA, Chile, or Peru.
• Recognized in the industry as an expert in geology and resource estimation.
• Proficiency in major modeling software packages such as Leapfrog Geo, Datamine, MineSight, Gemcom, or Vulcan.
• Eligibility to act as a Qualified Person under NI 43-101 and S-K 1300 is essential.
• Relevant education, experience, and good standing with an accepted professional association for QP eligibility.
• Familiarity with CIM, JORC, CRIRSCO, or SME guidelines, as well as public disclosure regulations including NI 43-101 and SEC S-K 1300.
• Experience in multiple operating mines and/or across various commodities is beneficial.
• Experience with PEA, PFS, and FS project development studies is advantageous.
• Background in M&A due diligence, IPO, financing, and international projects is a plus.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, including to remote locations.
• Fluent and effective in spoken and written English.
• Authorization to legally work in Canada, the USA, Chile, or Peru without sponsorship from Wood is mandatory.
