Principal Quality Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico, +3 more countries.

📋 Description

• Lead and enhance the comprehensive quality engineering roadmap for the company.

• Create a framework for quality accountability tailored for engineers, Engineering Managers, and Product Managers.

• Formulate test strategies encompassing unit, component, contract, API, end-to-end, mobile, performance, load, and accessibility testing.

• Innovate and improve AI-driven quality tools, including AI agents and capabilities for test generation, code review, and quality guidance.

• Manage CI/CD and testing infrastructure, incorporating necessary checks, quality gates, end-to-end and visual regression pipelines, performance budgets, and mobile test automation.

• Determine which checks will block deployments and which will execute asynchronously to maintain swift pipelines.

• Integrate production monitoring with incident response and create actionable quality dashboards.

• Offer technical mentorship to QA engineers across various squads.

• Collaborate with QA engineers and their Engineering Managers, providing input for performance evaluations.

• Enhance quality standards, tooling, flakiness, pipeline costs, and the balance between synchronous and asynchronous test execution.

• Deliver new AI-native quality features and steer the technical direction of the QA squad.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in utilizing AI for test generation and enhancing quality initiatives.

• Expertise in establishing agentic tooling such as Claude Code or workflows based on MCP.

• Background in designing testing methodologies suitable for varying team maturity levels.

• Practical experience in building and maintaining component, contract, API, end-to-end, and performance testing suites.

• Familiarity with CI pipelines and testing infrastructure.

• Competence in test automation throughout the entire test pyramid.

• Experience in coaching engineers on testing methodologies and facilitating enablement sessions.

• Eagerness to personally develop CI pipelines and associated tooling.

• Ability to influence and mentor QA engineers without direct management authority.

• Experience in hiring, coaching, and performance management for QA or engineering teams is advantageous.

• Capacity to collaborate with US-facing partners and accommodate overlapping working hours.
