Principal Product Security Researcher

📋 Description

• Take charge of the product security research agenda by examining the broader ecosystem, recognizing emerging attack patterns, and converting them into risks and opportunities.

• Influence the security direction across products and platforms in collaboration with Product, Engineering, and Security leadership.

• Propel the industry agenda and discussions surrounding security risks and priorities.

• Investigate emerging threats and trends in software supply chain and product security, analyzing their effects on products and customers.

• Develop practical mitigations that encompass people, processes, and technology.

• Collaborate with executive and senior engineering leadership on organization-wide security strategy and roadmap decisions.

• Identify systematic vulnerabilities and create root-cause remediation plans.

• Mentor and enhance the capabilities of Product Security and Engineering teams.

• Balance stakeholder feedback while delivering value across various functions.

• Represent Chainguard through presentations, conferences, and thought leadership initiatives.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in product or application security, with a proven history of leading research or threat-focused initiatives that resulted in clear, company-wide outcomes.

• Advanced knowledge across various domains including secure architecture, application/product security, software supply chain, and organizational-level risk management.

• Competence in balancing security, speed, and reliability.

• Capability to manage ambiguous, cross-functional challenges and transform them into structured, prioritized initiatives that are successfully implemented.

• Demonstrated ability to communicate complex concepts to executive stakeholders, achieve alignment, and facilitate decision-making at the highest levels.

• Up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, tools, and research methodologies, with the ability to apply them practically.

• Ability to work independently with a strong sense of ownership while also collaborating generously.

• Comfortable functioning in fast-paced, uncertain environments and creating structure.
