This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Nevada.
• Construct, operate, and evaluate production cost models like GridView for power market scenarios.
• Model, simulate, and assess optimal electric power operations under limited transmission conditions.
• Assist in generation, storage, and transmission capacity investment decisions through advanced analytical tools.
• Formulate assumptions regarding electricity demand, fuel pricing, technology costs, performance, and regulatory frameworks.
• Simulate intricate power system operations on an hourly to sub-hourly basis.
• Evaluate resource adequacy and reliability.
• Analyze capacity variations, transmission congestion, locational marginal prices, and daily emission trends.
• Develop and validate hypotheses concerning power system operating economics.
• Create and execute production cost modeling study scenarios.
• Prepare comprehensive study reports that present key findings.
• Perform additional power system studies as required.
• Master of Science in Electrical Engineering with a focus on power system studies.
• Master of Science in Mathematics or Master of Arts in Economics with an emphasis on electric power.
• Over 10 years of experience in the power industry, system studies, modeling, and resource and transmission planning utilizing tools like PSSE and PSLF.
• More than 10 years of experience in resource adequacy and production cost analysis employing production cost modeling tools such as GridView.
• At least 5 years of experience in grid planning or wholesale electricity market operations within CAISO/WECC or other significant RTOs and ISOs.
• Extensive experience in developing energy market policies.
• Proficiency in interpreting complex market data.
