This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland, +3 more states.
• Define and enhance the target architecture for FuzeRx’s core B2B and consumer platforms.
• Drive the technical roadmap for transforming legacy systems into modern, scalable, and cohesive architectures.
• Lead the design and execution of technically demanding initiatives, such as high-volume API integrations, pharmacy fulfillment logistics, and maintaining distributed data consistency.
• Mentor Staff, Senior, and Mid-level engineers.
• Implement design reviews, pairing sessions, and technical brown-bag sessions.
• Establish and uphold standards for coding, testing, CI/CD, and security-by-design.
• Collaborate closely with Product Management, Engineering Managers, and Pharmacy Operations.
• Architect systems that support HIPAA and SOC2 compliance, patient data privacy, and secure messaging.
• Optimize system performance, minimize latency, and enhance PostgreSQL and AWS database efficiency.
• Assess tools, frameworks, and AWS services through proof-of-concept initiatives.
• Report to the VP of Engineering and work across multiple product squads.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Over 10 years of progressive, hands-on experience in software engineering and systems design.
• At least 3 years of experience operating at a Staff, Principal, or equivalent senior architectural level, leading technical initiatives across various teams.
• Extensive experience building and scaling distributed, high-throughput, and highly available B2B SaaS or transactional systems.
• Standard business hours; expected to serve as a Tier 1 technical escalation point for critical architectural outages.
• Mastery of modern cloud architectures.
• Deep, hands-on experience with AWS, PostgreSQL, Ruby on Rails, Python, TypeScript, and JavaScript.
• Familiarity with Slack, GSuite, and Jira.
• Exceptional communication skills to convey complex technical trade-offs to non-technical executives and stakeholders.
• Strong preference for action and practicality over architectural perfection.
• Proven track record of designing and implementing complex distributed systems, optimizing intricate relational database queries, and establishing automated deployment pipelines.
• Advanced knowledge of healthcare data interoperability standards such as HL7, FHIR, and NCPDP, as well as EHR integrations.
• Physical ability to work at a computer terminal for extended periods and fulfill the listed physical requirements.
