Principal Counsel, Product & Commercial

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Define product strategy by collaborating with Product and Engineering teams as concepts evolve into market-ready solutions.

• Integrate considerations of privacy, intellectual property, cybersecurity, data usage, consumer protection, and commercial strategy.

• Direct complex technology transactions and intricate negotiations.

• Create legal playbooks, templates, decision frameworks, and self-service methods.

• Enhance contracting workflows, standardization, and intelligent automation.

• Recognize suitable applications of AI within the Legal department while maintaining human judgment.

• Convert intricate legal and technical inquiries into commercially relevant recommendations for senior executives.

• Share knowledge, mentor peers, and assist in establishing scalable legal practices.

• Support Pax8 in launching technology, unlocking commercial prospects, and developing scalable legal strategies.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive legal experience, including significant in-house work within a technology, platform, or marketplace setting.

• Demonstrated proficiency in complex software, Software as a Service, technology, data, marketplace, and enterprise transactions.

• Practical product counseling experience from inception to launch.

• Familiarity with cloud services, intellectual property, open-source licensing, privacy, cybersecurity, consumer protection, payments, and AI legal matters.

• Curiosity about the functioning of technology and confidence in engaging in technical discussions.

• Strong commercial acumen.

• Experience in developing scalable legal processes, playbooks, templates, and technology-driven workflows.

• Comfort in responsibly utilizing AI-powered legal tools.

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law institution.

• Active membership in at least one U.S. state bar or eligibility for registered in-house counsel status in the relevant jurisdiction.

• Experience with multi-sided marketplaces, reseller or channel models, payments, financial technology, or high-growth enterprises is particularly advantageous.

• Valid authorization to work in the United States.
