Principal Analytics Consultant, Power BI

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee comprehensive Power BI projects and workflows, encompassing planning, discovery, requirements gathering, prototyping, development, testing, deployment, enablement, and user adoption.

• Define the technical strategy, solution architecture, backlog, delivery sequence, and quality benchmarks for scalable Power BI implementations.

• Create and develop Power BI semantic models, reports, dashboards, data products, and self-service analytics solutions.

• Utilize dimensional modeling, DAX, Power Query, SQL, data visualization techniques, metric definition, and performance enhancement.

• Integrate Power BI solutions with enterprise data warehouses, data marts, lakehouses, semantic models, and other analytical data frameworks.

• Facilitate client discovery sessions to clarify requirements, align stakeholders, highlight trade-offs, and guide decision-making.

• Provide guidance on Power BI governance and operating models, addressing workspace strategies, security, access management, deployment, administration, adoption, and performance metrics.

• Evaluate and enhance reports, semantic models, platform settings, and deployment methodologies.

• Manage client expectations through effective communication, status updates, feedback mechanisms, risk management, escalation processes, and decision alignment.

• Offer technical leadership and mentorship to consultants and project teams.

• Assist in staffing, utilization, delivery planning, budgeting, estimating, and project performance management.

• Collaborate with account and practice leaders on discovery, proposal development, solution design, estimates, and growth opportunities.

• Create reusable Power BI accelerators, frameworks, templates, enablement resources, and insights.

• Aid in backlog development and the continuous improvement of analytics solutions.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in delivering data analytics, business intelligence, or data visualization solutions within an enterprise context.

• At least 3 years of external consulting experience, including responsibility for client-facing analytics projects or workflows from initiation to completion.

• Proven experience in leading complex delivery teams or workflows and mentoring consultants or technical professionals.

• Experience contributing to delivery planning, estimation, staffing, utilization, budgeting, proposal writing, or practice enhancement.

• Demonstrated proficiency in designing and deploying enterprise Power BI solutions, focusing on semantic modeling, report and dashboard creation, DAX, Power Query, data visualization, and performance optimization.

• Strong SQL capabilities and experience with cloud data warehouses, data marts, lakehouses, semantic models, and analytical data frameworks.

• Familiarity with Power BI Service administration and enterprise enablement, including workspace strategy, security roles, access management, deployment techniques, platform configuration, governance, and user adoption.

• Solid understanding of analytics architecture, data modeling, metric definition, visualization design, usability, scalability, and maintainability.

• Ability to convert vague business requirements into analytical specifications and articulate recommendations, trade-offs, risks, and dependencies to both technical and executive stakeholders.

• Outstanding customer-facing communication, facilitation, project leadership, and stakeholder management skills.

• Strong analytical problem-solving abilities and a passion for learning and integrating new technologies, techniques, and processes.
