Principal AI Engineer

📋 Description

• Develop and enhance the foundational AI tutoring system, which includes prompt architectures, agentic workflows, and adaptive behaviors in real-time.

• Conduct thorough experimentation and evaluation by creating custom metrics and frameworks to assess learning effectiveness and enhance model reliability.

• Design and implement scalable and maintainable software that integrates AI capabilities with platform systems, content pipelines, and user experience elements.

• Collaborate across various functions with educators, content creators, and product teams to convert pedagogical objectives into technical solutions.

• Prototype and transition innovative model interactions based on emerging research and capabilities.

• Ensure quality, safety, and observability through monitoring, testing, guardrails, and iterative refinement of model behaviors.

• Share knowledge and uplift team members, promoting clarity, simplicity, and a culture of continuous learning.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 1 year experience in building complex LLM-based systems.

• Strong intuition for prompt engineering and experience in designing agentic workflows.

• Ability to create meaningful evaluation methods, including custom metrics and frameworks.

• Solid foundation in software engineering principles and architectural thinking.

• Proficiency in Python programming.

• Comfortable working with production infrastructure, cloud environments, and CI/CD processes.

• Actively engages with AI research and emerging capabilities.

• Strong empathy towards learners and content creators.

• Ability to translate pedagogical objectives into system behavior and product decisions.

• Capacity to reason across AI behavior, content structure, platform features, and user experience.

• Familiarity with learning science or a willingness to gain expertise in the field.

• Persistence in tackling difficult and ambiguous challenges.

• Preference for elegance and simplicity in system architecture.

• Excellent communication skills across various mediums.
