Prevailing Wage Consultant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Act as a prevailing wage authority for clients and internal teams.

• Provide guidance to Support, Implementation, Managed Services, Product Management, and other departments regarding prevailing wage regulations, the Davis-Bacon Act and Related Acts, as well as relevant state and local laws.

• Investigate intricate inquiries and offer practical recommendations in documentation.

• Assist clients in understanding wage determinations, worker classifications, fringe benefits, apprenticeships, certified payroll reporting, and associated paperwork.

• Address escalated compliance inquiries and differentiate jurisdiction-specific regulations.

• Recognize when to seek clarification from an agency or legal advisor.

• Keep track of developments in federal, state, and local regulations, agency guidance, wage determination updates, and industry trends.

• Conduct internal briefings and training sessions on regulatory updates, impacted parties, and suggested actions.

• Develop and maintain internal reference materials, FAQs, decision-making frameworks, and best-practice tools.

• Convert compliance requirements into business specifications, workflows, and educational resources alongside Product, Engineering, Implementation, Support, and other teams.

• Evaluate processes and proposed product modifications concerning prevailing wage implications.

• Identify deficiencies and propose enhancements to promote accuracy, consistency, and scalability.

• Collaborate with awarding bodies, labor compliance agencies, industry associations, and union representatives to clarify requirements and provide guidance.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in prevailing wage compliance, consulting, labor compliance, or public works payroll management.

• Proven expertise with the Davis-Bacon Act and Related Acts.

• At least 1 year of practical experience with payroll, certified payroll, or construction compliance software is preferred.

• Exceptional communication skills, capable of simplifying complex information for audiences ranging from executive leadership to early-career professionals.

• Hands-on experience in researching and applying wage determinations, classifications, fringe benefit regulations, and certified payroll reporting.

• Ability to consult and train internal stakeholders effectively.

• Strong understanding of state-level prevailing wage laws and public works criteria, including the ability to research and apply guidelines and wage determinations from state and federal Departments of Industrial Relations (DIR), is highly preferred.

• Experience interpreting union wage schedules, collective bargaining agreements, fringe benefit contributions, and rate changes is highly desired.

• Previous collaboration with unions, awarding authorities, or federal, state, and local labor compliance agencies is highly preferred.

• Client-focused communication style and strong consulting abilities.

• Proactive, detail-oriented mindset with a strong approach to research and problem-solving.

• Good judgment regarding ambiguity, source reliability, and when to escalate inquiries.

• Collaborative and solution-focused attitude.

• Willingness to travel up to 10% for company meetings, team training, and other internal needs.
